Robin Class
Welcome to Robin Class!
Robin Class is taught by Miss Harris (Monday - Wednesday) and Mrs Jones (Thursday & Friday). We are also lucky to have support from other grown-ups in class, including Mrs Vranch and Miss Wenlock.
We follow a play-based curriculum for our Reception children, with plenty of Discovery Time to explore their own interests, develop key skills, and learn through play.
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is the framework used in nurseries, preschools, and reception classes in England for children from birth to age 5. It sets the standards for learning, development, and care to ensure children are given the best start in life. The EYFS is built around seven areas of learning and development. These are divided into three prime areas and four specific areas:
The Prime Areas (the building blocks for learning)
These develop first and are the most essential for children’s healthy development and future learning.
-
Communication and Language
-
Physical Development
-
Personal, Social and Emotional Development (PSED)
The Specific Areas (which build on the prime areas)
As children grow, these areas help them extend their learning.

Our Year 1 children follow the KS1 National Curriculum, just like their peers in Blackbird Class. We carefully plan the learning so that Reception children have short inputs across a range of subjects before heading into Discovery Time. Year 1 children will engage in longer inputs followed by focused group work with an adult. During the week, Year 1 children will also have opportunities to learn through play and access provision, helping them to continue developing their skills in a hands-on, engaging way.
Our aim is for every Robin to feel safe, happy, and excited about the year ahead.
